Some of us are back to work already! This morning we discussed the origins of trigonometry, we all know Pythagoras is credited with the connection between the three sides of a right angled triangle but what about the person who connected the angles and sides? Perhaps we can introduce a new Greek mathematician into the classroom and his name is Hipparchus

He is considered the founder of trigonometry so he gets my vote for the credit for the connection between the angles and sides of a right angled triangle – the trig ratios; SOH CAH TOA.
